Getting your school set up is straightforward, with a guided process and clear timelines so everything feels organised from the start.
We walk you through each step, from setting up your account and selecting subjects to managing entries.
Key dates for registration, assessments and results are shared in advance, so you always know what’s coming next.
You can choose from six literacy and STEM subjects for Years 2 to 12, with full control over which subjects and year levels to enter.
You’ll have a dedicated ICAS assessment consultant, who you can contact at any stage for support.
ICAS is delivered online within a five-day window per subject, so you can schedule assessments at times that work best for your timetable.
Each assessment takes 40–75 minutes, depending on subject and year level. Most schools fit it into a regular class period, with minimal impact on the rest of the day.
With six subjects across four windows throughout August, participation can be spread across the term without placing pressure on staff or students.

If preferred, your school can manage student registrations and entry payments.
This option gives you full control over student entries and is often used when schools enter whole classes or include ICAS as part of a cohort-wide program.

Your dedicated ICAS assessment consultant is there from day one, providing personalised support and guided webinars that walk you through each step of the process.
We provide ready-to-use setup guides, email templates and results guidance, everything you need to communicate clearly with families, without starting from scratch.
Device requirements, browser compatibility, supervision guidelines and assessment setup are all covered in our technical documentation. And if something comes up on the day, our support team is there to help.
Detailed reporting is available through the ICAS portal once results are published.

Once assessments are complete, ICAS handles the marking, reporting and recognition.
Results are published through the secure ICAS portal within a few weeks, where your school can view detailed student reports, including skill area breakdowns and national benchmarking. If you’ve enabled the Parent Payment System, parents can log in and view their child’s results online as well.
Certificates for every student and medals for top performers are then prepared and sent to your school, making it simple to recognise and celebrate effort and achievement.

ICAS is compatible with most modern devices including desktops, laptops and tablets. Detailed technical requirements are available in our documentation and your ICAS assessment consultant can advise based on your setup.
ICAS is conducted under standard school supervision. We provide a complete supervisor's guide that covers every crucial aspect of running the competition.
Each subject runs across a five-day window, so you can schedule absent students on a different day within the same window.
Schools are notified as soon as results are available, typically within a few weeks of the window finishing.
For students registered through the Parent Payment System, ICAS will then notify parents via email that results are ready to view, and they can access results immediately online via the Results Portal.
For students registered by the school, results can be shared directly with families, or they can wait to receive their certificate, which includes their result.
Certificates and medals are sent to schools after results are released.
